Halloween Fun

For Halloween we went to Northview, our Bryan church. We had lots of fun and played a lot of games and ate LOTS of candy.

Devotionals

John answered, "The man with two tunics should share with him who has none, and the one who has food should do the same." Luke 3:11

Michael and Alex were sitting in the back seat of the car. They were fighting over a grasshopper. Michael had two grasshoppers and Alex didn’t have any. They both loved grasshoppers and wanted to play. Alex asked Michael if he would share. Michael said no and Alex got upset.
Mom was listening to their conversation and asked Michael why he would not share. Michael said that he wanted both grasshoppers and that they were his. Mom asked Michael how that made Alex feel. Michael said that made Alex sad. Why? mom said, Michael thought for a minute and realized that it was not nice to be selfish and that he would feel sad if he did not have any grasshoppers and Alex wouldn’t share with him.
Mom then told Michael and Alex that God wants us to share everything we have. We are to share food, clothes, toys and GRASSHOPPERS. This makes Jesus smile when we think about other peoples feelings before we think of our own. Mom also told them to remember that Jesus thought about us before himself when he died on the cross to save us from our sins, so the least that we can do is share and be nice.
Michael and Alex felt good about their decision to share and spent the rest of the time in the car playing with the grasshoppers together and putting them on their face and watching them jump. Then Michael told Alex that they should always be nice to each other so that they can tell others about Jesus and make Jesus happy.


Thought for the day: What are other ways that you can be nice to each other. How does it make people feel when you are nice instead of not nice?

Verse of the day: Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves Romans 12:9-10

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God— even as I try to please everybody in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved.

Michael, Alex and their mom went to McDonalds one day. When they got up to the line, Alex said “I want to go first”, Michael pushed him out of the way and said “no me first”. When they got to the table, Michael said “I was sitting there, Alex started to cry, “no, I want to sit next to Momma”. Michael clicked his tongue and shrugged his shoulders and said “whatever”. When they opened their Happy Meals, they began fighting over who would get which toy. People around them were beginning to notice. Before they ate mom said “we need to pray” they bowed their heads and mom prayed. A little boy sitting next to them said to their mom “they are supposed to be Christians, but they argue and complain just like Armein”, a boy in his class that he knew was not a Christian. How can that be?
Michael and Alex overheard this and apologized to each other. Mom told them that they needed to do everything without complaining and arguing NOT just because it is God’s word, but also because wherever they go, people will be watching them. She also told them that they would not be able to show people Jesus if they were to busy arguing! Michael and Alex realized this was a good idea and they promised they would try to do EVERYTHING without arguing or complaining.

Thought: How could Michael and Alex have done things different from the beginning? Why is it important to do everything without arguing and complaining?


Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God
Philippians 2:14

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

One day Michael, Alex and their mom were at a small church in Bryan, Texas. At this church they were giving away clothes and food to people who did not have anything. Their mom was dishing up spaghetti and Michael and his friend Sydni were beside her. They would cut pieces of cake and put them in the container after the spaghetti.
At one point Michael looked up at his mom and said “mom, are you serving” and his mother said “yes, Michael I am”. He looked at her for a moment and then said “I am serving too”. It was at that point that Michael understood that there were people a lot less fortunate then he was and God commands us to help everyone. His mother was very proud of him

Thought of the day: what are some other ways that we can help people less fortunate then ourselves? Why does God want us to do this.

Luke 16:10

Michael was a 7 year boy who very much wanted to do more things on his own. He could already take the trash out to the curb and bring it back and he put the toothpaste on his and his brother Alex’s toothbrush every day. But Michael wanted more. He was becoming interested in cooking and helping in the kitchen.
Michael still had a few problems with obeying and listening. Mom told him that to help cook is a huge responsibility and he had to be willing to listen to mom and obey. Mom also explained that Alex (Michael’s four year old brother) watched everything that Michael did. When Michael didn’t obey, Alex SURE wasn’t going to obey.
Michael understood this and knew that if he was ever going to be able to be trusted with more responsibility, he would have to listen and obey in all circumstances.
So, mom promised that she would start working with Michael to learn to do more things on his own.

Question: What are some things that Michael and Alex can learn to do on their own. Write them down and then try to do them.

Michael was sitting in his room one night very upset. He really wanted to watch the movie on television but he had told a lie and had to go to bed. He didn’t understand what the big deal was. Mom tried to explain at the time but he was too upset to listen.
God commands us not to lie and when we have Jesus in our hearts we are to be more like Him. If we lie we are not showing people Jesus the sin keeps us far away from Jesus. Also, when you lie people will not believe you when you tell the truth and you will lose the trust of your friends. Mom explained that it was always important to tell the truth, even if you do something bad because you can not fix a problem with a lie.
Michael then began to understand and knew that he needed to always tell the truth so that he could set the example for his brother and he could show people Jesus and people would trust him.

Pray: Lord please show us any sin that we have and help us to have an honest heart and not to lie.

It was a bad day.

Mom was stressed because they had so much to do and they were running late.
It was a bad day.
Michael was frustrated because nothing seemed to be going right and no one was listening to him.
It was a bad day.
Alex was cranky because he was tired and hungry and they couldn’t sleep or eat.
It was a bad day.
What made it worse is that all the stress, frustration and crankiness was combined together which definitely made it a REALLY BAD DAY!!!!
Momma yelled, Michael cried and Alex got spanked.
At the end of the day mom sat down with them and said she was sorry for yelling. Michael and Alex said sorry for being disobedient. They then prayed and asked God for forgiveness and Jesus promises that if they ask for forgiveness and repent (to stop the sin) God will forgive you and you can start a new day!!!
Everybody went to sleep with a smile on their face because they all loved each other and they knew God loved them.

Pray: God please forgive us when we don’t treat each other nicely and help us to show each other love.

Michael and Alex were VERY active little boys. They were loud and fast. They got excited over skate boards and grasshoppers. They laughed and giggled when they wrestled. Alex could make up stories and had friends that only he could see. Michael loved Pokeman cards and could tell you what each one meant. They used all of their energy to do these things.

But on the other hand when they got angry they threw fits and cried and yelled and stomped. This was not right. The Bible says that we do not give into anger and that we need to have self control. Mom explained to them that when you threw really big fits and lost control that you could not make good choices and that you allow Satan to get a hold of you and that makes Jesus very sad.

Mom also said that it is not always easy for anyone (including mom) to have self control and that is why we need to pray and ask Jesus to help control our words and our bodies.

Discuss: What are some things that we can do to have self control?

Pray: Lord please help us to have self control and not to get angry and bear with each other in love.

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.
Ephesians 5:15-17

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

“You’re stupid” said Alex, “Umm, I’m telling” said Michael. Mom had been hearing A LOT of that. Alex seemed to be having a VERY hard time watching what he said. Even though every time he said these things, he got spanked – hard. He still wanted to say bad things.

Mom sat down and explained that it makes Jesus very sad when we say mean things because we are to love each other and the more mean things you say, the HARDER your heart gets. Yes, your heart gets hard. The Bible says ‘out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks’ (Matthew 12:34). If you keep saying mean things, it will start to not bother you any more and that is what makes your heart hard.

When Michael and Alex heard this, they knew that they did not want hard hearts, so they decided that they would ask Jesus to help them say only nice things.

Pray: Dear Lord, please help us to say nice things so that we can be more like You and make You happy. Amen

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:12-13

Michael and Alex didn’t realize how good they have it. The have a house (even if it is small). They have plenty of clothes, plenty of food and LOTS OF TOYS!!!! But somehow they still did not think they had enough. Mom explained to them that there were people everywhere EVEN in Bryan/College Station who did not have anything. They didn’t have houses, clothes, food or they certainly didn’t have toys. Mom also explained that that was why we thanked Jesus every night, because he allows us to have these things. But we also need to remember that these things are not what is important. What is important is putting God first and then He will give us what we need (not want!!!)
Mom also explained that it is important to share with others because we may have something someone else may need (and that is how God uses people to give people what they NEED)

Discuss: How can we help people who are less fortunate than us.

Pray: Lord help us to remember how much we have and to be thankful for it and to share with others.

So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

My Daddy



My daddy has just came to texas to live here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It has been great to see my daddy. He has been learning about Jesus.
He came to church with us today and it was fun!
I hope he is going to stay in College Station.
